NYSALM Celebrated it's 10 year anniversary among midwives, students, families, legislators, physicians, and midwifery supporters in Albany on April 12, 2010

A big thank you to all who participated in this year’s Annual Meeting and Lobby Day! It was an incredible experience for all involved, and it was wonderful to see midwives, students, families, and friends of midwives come together to support the Midwifery Modernization Act and highlight the need for greater access to midwifery care and more choices for New York women.

The rally was an amazing addition to the day’s activities and allowed everyone to get involved and show their support. The speakers were wonderful and we extend a special thank you to all of you who organized the event, spoke to the crowd, spoke to the media, made signs, and took the time to pack up your family and come support midwifery in New York!

Our work on Lobby Day has already had an impact. Within two weeks of Lobby Day, we had 5 new co-sponsors!! Lobby Day is only the beginning… now it’s time to meet with your legislators in their home offices to follow up. While many legislators or staffers expressed support for the MMA, they need to be encouraged to make their support official by co-sponsoring the bill. Learn more by clicking on the links below.
